In addition to the moraine land typical of the forest areas, the soil in Vesilahti is clay mixed with sand. The clayey lowlands on the banks of the large lakes have offered ideal conditions for agriculture since early times. Lake Pyhäjärvi, the central lake in the water system of Kokemäenjoki, surrounds the entire north-eastern part of Vesilahti, and the inland parts are dotted with forest lakes, such as Lake Suonojärvi and Lake Arajärvi.

You can come here to stay on the farms (which is a new travel industry in Ylistaro) and see the sights, such as the Stately Church and the smaller Kitinoja village church (built and maintained by the villagers themselves). We also have a horse sports centre in Mäki-Pohto area. In addition, the woods and the river offer innumerable possibilities for recreation, and we are in the process of building a new sports hall for everyone to engage in different activities. The annual Joutopäivämarkkinat Fair in July gives you a wonderful opportunity to meet local people and make new friends. The village centre is turned into a colourful mass of vendors´ tents and smiling crowds of people all friendly towards one another. The whole week is full of different events both sporty and cultural, and the hospitality of the people is something you really have to experience yourself.
